How do you use Viper's snakebite?

I don't understand this ability. Its range and duration is too short to properly work as an area control ability and its effects make no sense to me. The dps is low and the fragile effect almost immediately disappears after leaving the toxic puddle. I have never seen anyone being affected by this debuff in a way that could remotely matter because the chance of you catching someone on the puddle is nihil.

Please help a bro out. Her wall ability is huge and I use her for that and ult alone, but the thought of not optimally utilizing her entire kit is.. annoying, to be honest.

Tfarcevol you can place it on the spike to delay the defuse after death for example... hard to time, but we won and lost some
rounds cause of that

Which is useful, but incredibly situational. This is a trend with Viper which boils down to a flawed core identity imo.

The Viper buffs were very welcomed but I think there is a missed opportunity here. Both her smoke and snake bite are just weak versions of what other agents can do. Instead of making changes here they just buffed her already strongest basic ability and slapped an also very situational effect on her mediocre snake bite.
The whole philosophy behind her as a resource type agent just doesn't work and is not well thought out. I mean she is supposed to excel in prolonged engagements because unlike other agents she gets her used abilities back but let's be honest, with combat being so deadly almost all engagements end with a quick death.
