Agent Name: Ace
Role: Initiator
Abilities:
1: Haze;
Deploy a slightly oblong cloud of gold dust within your line of sight by holding down left-click while casting. Let go of left-click to confirm. Haze lasts 10 seconds. Usages: 2.
Cost: 200 each
2: Gilded Glare;
Throw a bouncing poker chip that can be controlled via the direction you move your camera. Bounces 3 times before detonation. Can be detonated before the final bounce by pressing the second ability key again. Flash lasts for 1.75 seconds. Usages: 2.
Cost: 150 each
3: Poker Face;
When activated, Poker Face gives you and your teammates in a certain range of you a boost of 30 armor for 30 seconds. Can be used once before going on a cooldown of 45 seconds.
4: House Always Wins;
Ace deploys a roulette wheel that rapidly releases mini-explosives in the form of dice that deal 35 damage each in a circular pattern. The roulette wheel has 150 hp and lasts 25 seconds if not interrupted.
Cost: 7 Ult Points
TL;DR: A gambling-themed jack of all trades, master of none agent that can act as an initiator and duelist with a flashbang, a sentinel with an armor boost, and a controller with a smoke and area-denial ultimate.
Note: I could really use help balancing this, as a jack of all trades in a game like Valorant can be incredibly strong if balanced incorrectly.
(EDIT🙂
With a better understanding of the game now than I had then, I realize that Ace needs work, balancing-wise and design-wise, to better fit Valorant, to be more unique, and to be more interesting. Stay tuned, a rework should be coming soon (hopefully).
Due to his lack of originality and general lack of interest and depth, I chose to rework Ace. I’m still not super confident I fixed his issues, but at least now he moreso fits the Jack of All Trades theme I was going for (Haze still for Controller, Gambit’s Glare for Duelist/ Initiator, Debt Collector for Sentinel, and House Always Wins for Sentinel). I still would appreciate feedback and possible kit changes.
However, I don’t think I’d still call him an Initiator. He has more Sentinel-esque abilities total than the other 3 roles. Also, I initially thought Initiators were just support-Duelists, so I was wrong to even call him one in the first place. So with that, I’m changing his classification from Initiator to Sentinel.
Ace Rework:
1: Haze;
The size of the smokes is being reduced moderately, but their oblong-ability is being upped so that they can more impactfully be shaped without outclassing other smokes by being as wide.
2: Gilded Glare —> Gambit’s Glare
Renamed to Gambit’s Glare, mechanically the same (forgot to mention the first time around that he can get his gun up just after detonating the flash). Still 2 charges.
3: Poker Face —> Debt Collector
Complete Rework/ Change. Poker Face is being reworked into Debt Collector*
*Debt Collector: A placeable trap that strips all of an enemy’s armor and takes away 25 health for 25 seconds. Notifies Ace when it triggers. Now 2 Charges, but no recharging over time.
4: House Always Wins
It cannot damage itself (which I didn’t make clear before) and its HP has been increased to 250.
