  • Unable To Download Valorant Anymore? (error message ''couldn't update'')

A few months back I tried to get onto valorant and an error message popped up saying ''couldn't update'', making me unable to play the game completely. I uninstalled it and downloaded it again of course yet the same message appears. I've been playing valorant for a while now and my pc specs and all are ok and nothing has happened to me like this before and a few months later it still just does not work? I've tried many things but to no avail, would love for someone to help

Frostiez changed the title to Unable To Download Valorant Anymore? (error message ''couldn't update'').

FIX FOR "We Couldn't Install a Required Dependency" Error

Hey everyone,

I recently ran into a super frustrating issue while trying to launch Valorant. The Riot Client would open, but the game itself wouldn't start. I kept getting an error saying:

"We couldn't install a required dependency. Please try again, restart your computer, or contact our Player Support team."

I tried all the usual fixes—restarting my PC, reinstalling Vanguard, and even completely uninstalling both Riot Client and Valorant—but nothing worked.

Solution That Worked for Me:
After reaching out to Riot Support (shoutout to FantastikBeast ), they suggested a registry tweak that finally fixed the issue. Here’s what you need to do:

Open the Registry Editor

Press Win + R, type regedit, and hit Enter.

Navigate to this location:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options

(Simply Copy Paste the above line in the Registry Editor's Address bar)

Look for a registry entry called DevOverrideEnable

If it exists, double-click it and set the value to 0

Restart your PC

After making this change, I was able to launch Valorant without any issues!
