Look, the Valorant devs are deliberately reducing the supply of some of their gun skins to artificially make them more rare, so they appear to be more valuable to players, and the shop system is deliberately designed to be addictive to get you in the habit of checking every day, and it's much easier to convince you after you've went through the effort of booting up the game and signing in and going to the shop, hoping that this might be the day you find these rare skins, but only to be let down yet again, to buy something else that look cool so all your efforts and time don't feel wasted. Or (more commonly) just playing a game of 2 since you already took this extra effort to get here, even if you didn't plan to and was only here to check the stocks (I've been there-I've just wanted to check out the new update really quick, then close the game, but instead I ended up playing Valorant until I almost threw up from the motion sickness. Has anything similar ever happened to you?) I think that making these skins very rare and hard to obtain is an intentional decision by the devs to keep the players hooked on the daily gamble of opening up the game every single day (but it could be worse-at least it's not loot boxes, where you only know what you're gonna get AFTER you've already parted with your money), and when they get their foot in the door, it opens you up to all of their tactics, which are designed to manipulate and tempt you to do more than you've originally intended to, which directly benefits their business. So think about it: once they give you the gun, or whatever you were after, the allure is gone, the leverage they had on you is gone, and sure-they ended up getting some of your money, but they know the most precious commodity they can have is your attention, to get in your head, and get you to care about and remember to play their game on a semi-regular basis, which is much more profitable for them long-term, so why would they just give you the the gun when they can tempt you powerfully and get you hooked? Think about that.
