If Riot implemented such a system, there would just be people complaining about how certain maps that they want to play will always get banned or certain maps would always get chosen, because each person's preference is different, and even though such a system would please certain players, it would just make other players even more unhappy and cause even more complaints, because now, instead of blaming the rng for choosing maps they don't wanna play, they would instead directly blame other players and take it even more personally, and this might lead to a lot more players resenting each other before the game even begins, or queue-dodging because they didn't want to play a certain map or think it's unfair that a certain map was chosen or that they don't feel heard, which is not what Riot or the players want. So even though it sounds counter-intuitive, Riot games deliberately removing the player agency to be able to choose maps is actually so they can quell tensions, not inflame them further. At least this is what I think-I'm actually not sure how having the agency to decide which map you are willing to play on will affect the players' emotions or psychology but just based on how some people have some really strong feelings about the different maps in Valorant, I think having a map pick or ban system would not exactly help things. I would love to hear your thoughts on it, as this is an interesting topic, and of course what I think is only one perspective on this situation.
