There's some debate to this. It does involve similar aspects to Diablo Immortal where they take the aspects of mathematically and psychologically abusive in game purchases.
So you can spent £9 And get 1050 in game VP. But wait, you really want that Ultra, or exclusive skin right? Ok so the maximum amount you can spent on an ultra skin is 2975VP so already you are pushing £30 to be able to buy a single gun skin. Alright maybe you don't want to spend that you go with a Exclusive skin and spend 2175VP which is the lowest.
Here is where it gets abusive, you can spend £18 to get 2150VP, so you are 25VP off, unless you make some awesome fan art and be nice generally you might get that 25VP from a dev or worker at Riot. Unlikely though, so now you are forced to spend £30 again to deduct your balance to 1500VP (That's only if you buy the least expensive Exclusive skin.)
What a coinsidence that you are 1500, yet that lowest package only offers you 500 to put you up to 2000 fair enough you might want to buy a premium skin instead, you are fine in that case.
However, if you again see another Exclusive or Exclusive melee weapon (4150 take note) you say oh well I might as well buy the next package up giving you enough to spend on a regular Exclusive.
Maybe you don't want the Exclusive gun, and instead want the melee weapon, into which you have the perfect option up from £9 to be able to spend £18 + £4.50 for the exact amount to purchase an Exclusive Melee weapon. Or maybe you want to spend £30 again to get the next bundle which will put you over enabling you to save some to buy the next £9 bundle for Night Market or another skin.
What a coincidence, and then you start back from square one with 0VP and repeat the same process all over again.
In all fairness to Valorant, Skins is how they make their money on this game and is respectable to charge this amount. They do a great job of the skins and great overall bundles.
Personally I have spent exactly £30 on this game. For me the $30 has the most value if you want some skins to look nice haha.
Inflation might be a good reason for these changes and price increases, they have to maintain standards and keep their servers running etc. There are loads of arguments and good points for this but thought I would just say what I think of the VP system currently.
