VALORANT Forums

Hi,

Yesterday I was playing with a friend and we both removed the fps cap to see how much we could get in the practice area. He has a i7 8700k with a 1080 TI and 32gb of 3200mhz RAM, and I have a 8600k with a RTX 2080 SUPER X GAMING TRIO with 16gb of 3000mhz RAM. His FPS was around 500 and mine only reached 300 fps ish.
Can some explain why this? And for all the people that are going comment with:"a human eye can only notice 30 fps, please stay in bronze." Thank you in advance.

Maybe it's because you have a higher resolution or you have GPU consuming processes in the background. Although the same happens to me, I have the 1080 Ti and people with a 1060 have better FPS and stability in other games, for example Battlefield V. It's also because I play at 144Hz and they play at 60Hz, I don't know if that will influence.

Sergio Thanks for the reply. Sorry I did not give you the full background in the post. We both run 1080p 144Hz. Although, I have a 24inch and he has a 27inch (but he downsized his resolution to 1080p). Btw, I also tested this with another friend, he has a 6700k with a normal 1080 also gets more fps than I do. I went over my components to check whats wrong, then I found out I had a 530 wat psu with only 38 amps on the +12v rail. I immediately went to the hardware store to get a proper psu.
